Andrographis Paniculata is the herbaceous plant which is the member of acanthaceae family. Native to sri lanka and india, andrographis paniculata grows widely in many parts of the southern asia where it has been put into use for curing infections and many other diseases. Andrographis paniculata is known as the erect annual herb which has extremely bitter taste. Scientists have studied it for more than 30 years and have found it as an effective, anti biotic, anti viral, anti parasitic which is highly used in traeting viral hepatitis, gastric acidity, liver congestion, flatulence. The decoction of the pant has been found out blood purofier therefore it is used for treating torbid liver. Tincture of its roots is characterized as the tonic, stimulant and aperient. Andrographis paniculata is called 'Hempedu Bumi', which has the literal meaning of 'bile of earth'.
