Calamus is found in the north temperate and subtropical regions at 2200m altitude in himalayas. It is a nausaeant, stomachic, stimulants, emetic, expectorant, nervine sedative, carminative, antispasmodic in nature. Calamus can be widely used in the incense sticks and its use can also be find in the dhup. It can also be used as an insecticide for lice, bedbugs, worms etc. Calamus is widely used in the medical fraternity for curing skin eruptions, rheumatic pains and neuralgia.
