About Moringa Oleifera :
Moringa Oleifera is the most popularly produced variety of the genus Moringa. Part of the Moringaceae family, it is recognized as vegetable tree comprising of the high nutrient value which is used for different purposes. It grows approximately 10m in height. It needs dry sandy soil as it can tolerate poor soil. Known as the fast growing tree, presently it is widely grown in the areas of Africa, Central and South America, Sri Lanka, India, Mexico, Malaysia and the Philippines. Moringa Oleifera have the roots which have the characteristic value of bitterness, acrid, thermogenic, anti-inflammatory, emmenagogue, diuretic, ophthalmic, expectorant and digestible. Roots are used for aiding diarrhoea, colic, flatulence, paralysis, inflammations, amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhoea, fever, strangury, vesical, renal calculi, dyspepsia, anorexia and verminosis. Its use can also be found in cough, asthma, bronchitis, pectoral diseases, splenomegaly, epilepsy and cardiopathy. Seeds are acrid, bitter, purgative, ophthalmic and antipyretic. Its leaves are anti-inflammatory, anodyne, anthelmintic, ophthalmic and have the high value of vitamins especially Vitamin A and Vitamin C. These can be used for curing wounds, tumors, helminthasis, inflammations, tumors.
